Howard Zinn, RIP

An excellent obituary of the "people's historian" can be found here, and a very recent interview with Zinn about his documentary "The People Speak" and other important matters is at this link.

(Thanks to PG for the heads up on these links.)

On another matter entirely. I gather that America (or some of it) has been transfixed by the Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien affair. So much attention to two guys who aren't very funny, nor are their writers.

This is incredibly sad. The death of Howard Zinn(and yes, I read A People's History of the United States), leaves a great big hole in the landscape. Who will come and fill it? I wish I knew. He was one of the few truly humane people I know of, left in the landscape.

Thank you for the kind words about Howard Zinn. He was a true hero and he exercised a huge influence on generations of students - myself included.

I hope all's well with you, Michael. I'm back in business, this time with an animal rights blog:

Take good care!
