A sample of dogs that have killed in the past year: black labs, including a puppy; huskies, in several cases; jack russell terriers; etc. But the most often cited dog is "mixed breed." In fact, a good journalist would do a little research and discover the numbers of people killed in the US by dogs hasn't changed much over the years and the breeds involved tend to correspond with trends in popularity.

The only real solution is enforcement of existing laws enforcing owner responsibility.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423725371920868922.post-6820223410150743522009-02-11T06:57:00.000-05:002009-02-11T06:57:00.000-05:00I concur, Michael. And the children who get killed (like poor Jaden) are only part of the tragedy. There are also countless kids who are disfigured for life. I don't agree with Richard that this is "worthy of nothing better than the News of the World." It's a grim reality that should be confronted head on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423725371920868922.post-72991183566888145782009-02-11T02:53:00.000-05:002009-02-11T02:53:00.000-05:00It doesn't faze me as much that 400 children got m...It doesn't faze me as much that 400 children got massacred in Gaza as that 6 million Jews died in the gas chambers.

Same stupid argument, Richard.
